September is ending.

So today is the last day of September already and it has been more than a month since my last post. Been reminding myself to spend some time to write but sadly I still can't find spare time for it though.

The moments of yarn cuddling has been very limited for the past few weeks. I think I have been affected by the laziness syndrome. I still try to be as productive as possible though.

This month I am able to complete two hats order for a one year old. With only a given picture as sample but no pattern to refer, I am actually managed to make it look alike.

Since the time is waiting for nobody, I am now picking up myself so I will be able to finish some of my work in progress soon enough.

It is December already!

Counting down days to end of the year. Seems it just yesterday we entered the year 2012 and now it is just about to end. So here comes the time to look back to your early year resolutions, to see what you have successfully achieved and what you still need to work on for the coming year of 2013.

So talk about my finished project during last two weeks, I again have signed up for another pattern tester in Ravelry. I clearly have mentioned earlier that I have decided not to join any test again till nex year but I just could not resist the strong temptation of it. Assisting the designer on Ravelry to test on their new releashed pattern is just so exciting for me.

This is the 'Heart Apart Girl's Cardigan' design by Mari Chiba. The technique used to assemble this cardigan is just so unique and not to forget its cute big heart shape in front of the cardigan is definitely the reason why you should knit this for your little one.

This is 'Bow Knot Hat' also another pattern testing project designed by Yasmin Gamal, which I managed to complete within 6-7hours and it has been my fastest project completed among my other pattern testing all this time. The hat just turn out to be so adorable to wear.

Finished project of the week!

Here comes another weekend and it is the third week of November 2012 already.
I managed to finish 3 project this week. Not quite big achievement if I said, since I didn't spend my time fully on finishing them too. But at least the list of WIPs is finally slowly cleared up and it is time to work on something new.

I did this same pattern of hat last week but with different colour.
This was made by order received online too. Comparing it to the green one, this one has a more slouchy finishing since I used bigger hook to crochet.

This stokinette circular scarf was knitted with my very own pattern, with a garter stitch ribbing on its side.
Started it of with a provisional cast on, which meant to hide its seaming.

Since I knitted it quite long, approximately 190cm, it can be worn in three style as shown in picture. This is too made for order received online

Just finished this square today, which takes only about an hour to crochet. A new pattern released by Thata Pang, this square is just so lovely and simple to make.
Planning to make more soon and turn it out become a big project.

Wednesday FO

Finally a so called weekend project is ended up finish in weekdays.
Been struggling so badly in forcing myself to get this WIP completed as soon as possible.

I used to be able to finish crocheting an adult hat within a day or two, but now it just seems to take forever to finish, sigh!

I do have some issue with sore hand everytime I start to crochet, which I do not find during knitting. Maybe it is all due to the pressure I use when holding the hook during crochet time.

Nevertheless, it always give you the feeling of real satisfaction when you finally get to complete the project which you have started.

Exciting September!!

It is September already. Without realizing it is another 3months to go to year end.
Wow, time do pass really fast and I found 24hours a day is really not enough.
Checking through my to do list, I got a bunch of project to finish and it do scare me on how fast the time can go.

Been infected by the laziness, I knit and crochet really slow lately, some of the day I don't even touch them at all..sigh!! With all the holiday that just pass, it really need extra effort to start over the usually activities, and same goes with the yarn needles stuff.

So I start the month of September with some crocheting done, not big project but it is a time consuming for sure.

Pattern testing always been challenging.

To be able to volunteer and finish the project done by some designer in Ravelry always need a full commitment. When people are actually counting on to your responds and comment to make sure the pattern that they design is actually doable by other people.

From the 1st day I decided to act as a volunteer, it was a challenging action to take, since I have to make sure that I always update the designer with any issue found and not to forget the most important thing is to be able to meet the dateline of submission. But I always find this as the best way to improve my skill honestly and I will definitely never going to stop on volunteering.

So here are some project done from the pattern testing:

Student Pass, Teacher Happy

Since I opened my offline shop, I decided to share my knowledge of knitting and crochet through a short courses to whom interested to learn.
Though I was hesitated in the beginning due to the uncertainty of how well I am going to be as a teacher, I finally started to take in students.

Surprisingly, the result turns out so great cause I manage to actually teach those with zero knowledge of knitting or crochet, to be able to create something from yarns and needles and I am definitely feel so happy about it.
So I guess that is how a teacher in school actually feels, when they are able to pass some knowledge to their student and the student managed to master it.

Here are some projects done by my student:

What's happening on June?

It's been awhile since the last time I posted something on this blog.
As usual to be able to sit down, with relaxing mind in order to have some ideas to write on blog is a time consuming moment, which is a bit hard for me lately.
Cos things been little bit hectic with my daily activities.

Nevertheless I still make sure I spend some time cuddling with my yarns and needles.
That is for sure something I will not going to miss..ever !!
So these are some of the things I managed to complete within the month of June 2012, which mostly are customers' orders.

my very 1st Hat Design

I am definitely considered as beginner in pattern writing, so if there is mistake found in my pattern, please feel free to comment.

As I am kinda obsess with Cable, I decided to give a try to do my own hat creation using this technique. And to make it easier for beginner, my hat does not involved any decreased, even I still have to use DPNs to make it. This is why I named the pattern as "Not A Round Hat" and the design is purely created by myself and if there's any similarity found in any other pattern, it will be just a coincidence.

I love how it the hat turn out to be and hope those who try my pattern like this too. This pattern available for free at Ravelry, but you must have an account there to be able to download it.

New Pattern for the month

Been awhile after my last pattern testing at Ravelry, which I think was last year.
I decided to volunteer to test another pattern again now.
This time is a Lacey Cable Beret named Katherine Hat by Dana Berry.

I am about to finish it soon, cos I can't wait to see it final result and it's been progressing little bit slower than my usual speed.

I finally managed to finish the hat, by the night I wrote this post :D
Love how the hat turn out, though the size is way too big for my head.

I Can Teach Too???

Surprisingly YES, I managed to teach.

It started with a bit of nightmare, when I decided to open a knitting/crochet class for beginner in my shop. The doubt was there, wondering whether I can teach someone properly, whether my teaching is acceptable.
And now by looking at the result of what my student can do, I definitely proud of myself.
Seeing how they actually been improving from having ZERO knowledge in knitting to producing such great stuff, really amazed me.
Not only they have the passion to learn also patience in finishing what they have started.

Teaching someone is for sure never been easy, it requires lots of patience whereby I myself not a person with a lot of it. But I am really glad to go through this experience cos I know that I am at least can be lot more patient then before.

My Quiet March

Days been hectic during the month of March, been running here and there to get my schedule for the day accomplish.
Despite the time I had to update my blog, I barely have the time to even sit in front of my laptop everyday, cos it such a time consuming activity to do.
However I definitely still spend the time to cuddle with yarn & needle as always, or else I will be bored to death I assume..hahaha..

So here is some of the stuffs that I managed to knit through out March

Craftsy "Let's make 1,000 hats to keep kids warm this winter" Project

Been subscribing myself to Craftsy e-letter for a while and all of sudden this 1 particular email attract my attention so badly. It was an article about charity project with goal set to donate 1000 pieces of knitted or crocheted hats to Kaps for Kendall, that is an organisation build to raise money to fight Fanconi Anemia and to provide special hats for kids who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy and radiation.

The 1000 hats expected to be gathered by 15th December 2011, with these few issues to be taken into consideration:

  • The hats can be in all sizes

  • The hats should be fun! Children like to wear bright colors

  • Hats for little boys are especially welcome

  • The hats don't have to be knit or crochet, sewn hats are great, too!

  • And to be delivered to this address:
    Keep a Kid Warm
    c/o Sympoz Inc.1553 Platte #202
    Denver, CO 80202

For further clearer information, take a peek at this link Let's make 1,000 hats to keep kids warm this winter article.

I certainly can't wait to take part in this event and by showing some support through sharing this info using my blog, wishing the reader of my blog will also be touched & also willing to participate as well. September is about to end soon and there is only about 2 months left to get things prepared. So it's time to get my yarn & needle start to dance ^^,
