September is ending.

So today is the last day of September already and it has been more than a month since my last post. Been reminding myself to spend some time to write but sadly I still can't find spare time for it though.

The moments of yarn cuddling has been very limited for the past few weeks. I think I have been affected by the laziness syndrome. I still try to be as productive as possible though.

This month I am able to complete two hats order for a one year old. With only a given picture as sample but no pattern to refer, I am actually managed to make it look alike.

Since the time is waiting for nobody, I am now picking up myself so I will be able to finish some of my work in progress soon enough.

WIP Wednesday Post # 4

So a week has already pass by, my Tallis tunic finally completed and under blocking process. I only need to knit its ribbing for neckline and sleeves then it's really done.

And I also have started a doily crocheting, which is part of local group mystery CAL. The doily looks just so vintage and too lovely too miss.

Don't forget to drop by to Tami's blog and Small Things for more great story from other crafters.

Finished project of the week!

Here comes another weekend and it is the third week of November 2012 already.
I managed to finish 3 project this week. Not quite big achievement if I said, since I didn't spend my time fully on finishing them too. But at least the list of WIPs is finally slowly cleared up and it is time to work on something new.

I did this same pattern of hat last week but with different colour.
This was made by order received online too. Comparing it to the green one, this one has a more slouchy finishing since I used bigger hook to crochet.

This stokinette circular scarf was knitted with my very own pattern, with a garter stitch ribbing on its side.
Started it of with a provisional cast on, which meant to hide its seaming.

Since I knitted it quite long, approximately 190cm, it can be worn in three style as shown in picture. This is too made for order received online

Just finished this square today, which takes only about an hour to crochet. A new pattern released by Thata Pang, this square is just so lovely and simple to make.
Planning to make more soon and turn it out become a big project.

Wednesday FO

Finally a so called weekend project is ended up finish in weekdays.
Been struggling so badly in forcing myself to get this WIP completed as soon as possible.

I used to be able to finish crocheting an adult hat within a day or two, but now it just seems to take forever to finish, sigh!

I do have some issue with sore hand everytime I start to crochet, which I do not find during knitting. Maybe it is all due to the pressure I use when holding the hook during crochet time.

Nevertheless, it always give you the feeling of real satisfaction when you finally get to complete the project which you have started.

Finisihed Project of the month

Happy to finally get a project checklisted as finished from a must-do list.
Received this order from twitter, a sanrio character called My Melody.
It considered as my second large amigurumi done after the first one: Hello Kitty.

Was quite afraid not to be able to create a look-alike doll at begining, since this character has lots more part to crochet compare to previous one.
Thankfully, I made it and I am just so happy with how it turn out.

The finished doll ended up to be approximately 34cm tall, using a 6mm hook, with 4 plied of yarns of the usual used soft cotton, not to forget it finished up quite lots of filling too, since it seems to bit fatter compare to Hello Kitty.

Amigurumi definitely is something not easy to be crocheted. If i were asked to do it again, might need to reconsider crocheting it, since there is too much work to do :))

My possesions!

Just for the record I just started to crochet somewhere around April 2010 and it has become my addiction since. I just can't stop of collecting yarns, books and not to forget hooks. It has been giving me a great feels of pleasure. From brandless hooks to well known brands, I have it all. Some people might think it just a waste of money, since you are not even going to use it at one time. But to me it is more to exploring the quality given from each different brand.

I did the same thing with Knitting needles as well, which mostly interchangeable and fixed circular sets, cos I just love to knit with circular needle compares to the straight needles, though I do owned some straight needles sets made of bamboo & acrylic with no brand too.

I personally think that needles do influence the quality of your work and performance, cos when you feel comfortable with the tools you are using, you will definitely be more productive, that is for sure!

Considering myself of having a very bad habit with shopping, the purchase of these hooks & needles do not stop till here, I also purchase some Tunisian hooks and also the needle for the new technique called knooking, which all of these mentioned hooks are considered new aince it is still not been used.

Dreaming to be part of big brand, Rowan!

The well known brand of a yarn company, Rowan, is looking the suitable candidate to become part of their team, which called as Rowanette.
I have submitted my entry right vefore the dateline which is 28th September 2012.
Just hoping and finger crossing, I will be shortlisted.

I have chosen a crochet pattern from Japanese Ondori book #3362, cos I found this tops has a very beautiful lace motif that looks elegant and complicated. Othe than that I also want to stress a point where Rowan Yarns is not only suitable for Knitting but also it is comfortable to be crocheted, especially when you are in a tropical country like Indonesia, where crochet is way more popular to knitting due to the whether issue.

The chosen candidate result will only be out somewhere around October 2012 though, so just wish me the best of luck then ;))

Exciting September!!

It is September already. Without realizing it is another 3months to go to year end.
Wow, time do pass really fast and I found 24hours a day is really not enough.
Checking through my to do list, I got a bunch of project to finish and it do scare me on how fast the time can go.

Been infected by the laziness, I knit and crochet really slow lately, some of the day I don't even touch them at all..sigh!! With all the holiday that just pass, it really need extra effort to start over the usually activities, and same goes with the yarn needles stuff.

So I start the month of September with some crocheting done, not big project but it is a time consuming for sure.

26cm Hello Kitty Amigurumi made for Carson's GF

Pattern testing always been challenging.

To be able to volunteer and finish the project done by some designer in Ravelry always need a full commitment. When people are actually counting on to your responds and comment to make sure the pattern that they design is actually doable by other people.

From the 1st day I decided to act as a volunteer, it was a challenging action to take, since I have to make sure that I always update the designer with any issue found and not to forget the most important thing is to be able to meet the dateline of submission. But I always find this as the best way to improve my skill honestly and I will definitely never going to stop on volunteering.

So here are some project done from the pattern testing:

What's happening on June?

It's been awhile since the last time I posted something on this blog.
As usual to be able to sit down, with relaxing mind in order to have some ideas to write on blog is a time consuming moment, which is a bit hard for me lately.
Cos things been little bit hectic with my daily activities.

Nevertheless I still make sure I spend some time cuddling with my yarns and needles.
That is for sure something I will not going to miss..ever !!
So these are some of the things I managed to complete within the month of June 2012, which mostly are customers' orders.

PkuRajuters' Yarn Bombing

Finally, after been planning for few months to held a Yarn Bombing activity in conjunction of celebrating the Indonesian 4th Knit/Crochet Festival & World Wide Knitting/Crochet in Public as well as the 1st birthday of beloved community-PkuRajuters, the event was successfully held.

Taken place at the city garden of Pekanbaru a.k.a Taman Kota, few members of PkuRajuters gathered to  support the activity, by donating some crochet granny squares to wrap the trees in the garden. Though the squares made was not a lot, but it was enough to make a part of garden looks eye-catching & colorful enough.

It also was our first outdoor gathering done. Despite the sunny weather, we all still enjoy and have a lot of fun doing our hobby outdoor. And we are for sure looking forward to another great outdoor activity in the future.

Playing with Beads

It has been in my Must Do List, adding the beads into a crochet or knit project of mine. Cos it makes the project turn out so sparkle and look nice.
So I decided to finally have a try on bead crocheting with PkuRajuters' June CAL Shawl : Triangle Shawl in Connected Heart Design by Sandi Marshall.

For a first timer like me, it definitely was a challenge working with beads while crocheting, cos not only you have to concentrate on which part the beads should be put on but also to insert the yarn into the beads using a smaller hook then the one I used for the shawl.

No doubt that while working with beads, I had some beads scattered around on the floor also due to my clumsiness, on accidentally flip the beads tray over. Not only that, I put up the challenge a little bit higher by working with black color yarn, in order to make the beads stands out and of course it was quite pain in the eyes working with a dark color yarn especially when you are short sighted. And it was also the project that used up lotsa needle during blocking time, since I had the edging more complicated then usual.

But overall it was really fun and to see the shawl finally completed, make me could not be more proud of what I have achieved.

Despite the time I had to update my blog, I barely have the time to even sit in front of my laptop everyday, cos it such a time consuming activity to do.
However I definitely still spend the time to cuddle with yarn & needle as always, or else I will be bored to death I assume..hahaha..
