It has been a while...!!!

I remember few months back, after I clean up my blog, I promised to always spare some time to write in about what I have been up too. But too bad, I believed that was not happening for the past month.

My little girl finally enter school in the beginning of July and that means I have to add another remarks in my everyday to-do-list for sure. Not to forget a little bit time management issue has also become another problem of mine.

So what I have been busy with for the past six weeks? Well, I have been involving in lots of kitchen work for sure since the little one has started her school. I found that I have been quite excited with the meal box (Bento) preparing moment for her to bring everyday to school. A friend of mine has inspired me a lot with this, as she always prepare cute and nice looking bento for her soon everyday. I am still in learning process to make it even cuter for sure.
Some of my Bento that I have done

I also get to do some bread baking, at last. Thanks to recipe I found online, I have finally conquer my fear of baking bread and loving it for sure. Been baking few time since then, especially when hubby said he loves my bread hahahaha.
My favorite baking recipe for the month

And I also have managed to finish two knitting project which had moved quite slow in the knitting process comparing to my usual speed though. A vest for test knit - Merewether and a blanket - Baby Chalice Blanket.

So that what has been going on with me since July up to today and it has been a great experience for sure. Hope you will have a great day ahead too :)

Since I always have the baking supply available in my shelf and not to forget bunch of eggs that been sitting around my frigde. I decided to bake too today.

Just did a very simple recipe of buttercake this morning and add up with some chocolate topping to it. Love how it smells definitely and it is now still left on the rack to cool down.
I am going to add some strawberry filling in between it too.

Now my whole house is filled with the buttercake smell and I am loving it :D

One Successful - Hectic Day in my kitchen

01 April 2011, had been a quite hectic day for me.. been rushing here & there to get some stuff done and still need to come home dealing with kitchen stuff.
Was actually considering not to bake anything at first since i'm just so tired after the outing, but then i found out the 9 eggs given by my mom in laws about to spoil, whereby actually 3 eggs already spoil & caused my cupboard having the rotten smell :(

So was given with no choice but to right away settle those eggs to avoid it being wasted again and since i was going to have some praying at the cemetery with my hubby family on the next day so i decided to bake something out of it.

I considered myself having a great success in the kitchen that day, with a few hours time only, I actually managed to steam & bake 2 different recipe, surprisingly...
So I started with steaming the Pandan Chocolate Cake, which i meant to bring for the praying the next day.

making dough process

Ready to be put in steamer
I only managed to capture the cake dough cos i was kinda having my mind into places, thinking on how to get the whole 9eggs settled before it spoil, so i didn't manage to capture the cake final picture :p

For the rest of the egg, I used it in the cheese cake recipe, which actually suppose to be a chiffon cake recipe. However since the egg was actually having 2yolks in each of it, i found it kinda difficult to get the white & yolk separated as what the recipe told me to do.
Out of my desperation in separating the white & yolk, i ended up to throw in the whole egg in to the mixer and make some changes with the recipe, as well as finger-crossing hoping the cake turn out to be great in taste & texture.

adding some cake emulsifier & grated cheese in to the dough, ready to be baked in the oven

the cake rise very well, praying the cake will turn to be successfully baked

Finally, jumping with excitement, the cake was actually was so soft & great in taste and surprisingly the changes made with the recipe turned out to be successful..hooray (^^,)Y

ike's very own baked cheese cake recipe ^^

It's Lil' Bro Birthday...Happy 16th Birthday...

On 24th oct 2010, my lil' brother was exactly 16th years old.
As usual, we went for dinner together for celebration & i decided to bake him a cake.
I chosen the butter cheese cake recipe, as he always like any form of cheese and I myself got all the ingredients available in my fridge.

Been a while though since the last time I baked something out of my kitchen, so was kinda worried about being failed. Luckily everything just go smoothly as expected except the egg white whipping turn bad & I had to re-whip the egg white 2nd time as 1st one didn't get fluffy as i wanted.

Once I done with the cake, I cracked my head on what should i do with the deco. And all of sudden, just like a bulb turning on above my head, I thought of decorating it with chocolate and some whipped cream.

Turns out the cake looks fabulous, just like those in bakery shop..hahahha...
and I'm just so proud of myself
